ENThe Vietnamese in Thailand are mostly in the Isaan region, like Udon Thani, Nakhon Phanom, and Nong Khai, tens of thousands of them. Nowadays, most of them have become Thai.
Thailand and Vietnam do not share a border but there are Vietnamese that settled down in Thailand probably during the Vietnam war. They are mostly in Nakorn Phanom, Udonthani, and Nongkhai.
ENNong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani—lots of Vietnamese immigrants came during the French colonial period in Indochina (Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam)... Mike should do dual subtitles, both Thai and English.
ENMost tourists go to the North, Chiang Mai, and the South, Phuket. In Isaan, you rarely see foreigners. But Isaan is famous for its folk traditions. In one year, Isaan has so many festivals.
ENI love the simplicity—easygoing, easy to eat with, not picky, adapting to every situation in each clip. 👍 #Seeing you grab sticky rice and tear omelet with your hands—aaaah! You’ve passed the test, true Thai person! 👍😬❤️
ENI want to tell Mike to just release long videos, even an hour is fine. Right now it feels like you cut too much and it's not smooth. Mike speaks well and is cute as is. Use your natural self to your advantage. I believe you'll gain more followers in the future.
ENI love it so much, Mike eating som tam with your hands, that's the original way to eat, Isaan style, 555+ Love it! Emily too, super cute. I watch every clip.
ENDuring the Indochina War, Vietnam was ruled by the French. Some Vietnamese people migrated to Thailand via Laos. The leader of the anti-French resistance, "Uncle Ho Chi Minh," also migrated to Thailand, using it as a base to plan and gather anti-French groups for a while. He stayed at Ban Na Jok, Nakhon Phanom province.
ENI was born in Udon Thani, my ancestors are from Udon. The Nong Khai riverside market is the food and travel market for Udon. You drive to see fabric at Na Kha, drive a bit further and you're in Nong Khai. We just go to the market but it's far.
ENAlong the Mekong in Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Vietnamese people have migrated since ancient times. The older generation can still speak it. It's close to Laos too, similar culture, they can talk and understand each other.
Hi Mike and Emily! These types of adventure vlogs to different provinces are very enjoyable. I prefer this over the organized tour groups that are sponsored by the Thailand Tourism Authority. Traveling with no set itinerary allows you to get lost and see hidden gems! Please do …
ENMike has improved his Thai a lot. Watching your first video and this one, it looks very natural. He has good chemistry with Emily. You can make hour-long videos, no need to cut. And if you add subs in both Thai and English, that would be great, in case hearing-impaired people watch. Thank you for loving Thailand, taking us to see beautiful places in Isan. The locals are kind. I'll follow you!🎉🎉🎉🎉
ENThe charm of Thailand is that they treat you like family. Especially in the countryside, they're so close. Seeing this makes my heart swell with pride😊🥰
ENWatching this clip, I smiled the whole time. I'm so happy you got to experience the real Isan and Thai lifestyle. It's so good, relaxed, simple living but so happy😊 From a person in Udon Thani ❤
ENProvinces along the Mekong River have been influenced, especially in food, by neighboring countries including the former Indochina colonizer, France. Not to mention people from neighboring countries who migrated to Thailand. It's no surprise that Vietnamese-style food is everywhere along the Mekong provinces.
ENMost Thai people of Vietnamese descent live in Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani. Most live in the city districts and are the wealthy people of those provinces, similar to Thai-Chinese, because they're good at trading.
ENBack in the day during the Vietnam War between North and South Vietnam, many Vietnamese people migrated to Thailand, so their culture and food are found around Isan.
ENThai people have many ethnicities and groups. In the past, Thais were kind and open to all immigrants. The most obvious are Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, and also several South Korean families who came for business and started families here, though they didn’t get Thai citizenship like the Chinese.
ENThailand does not share a border with Vietnam. But the closest point between Thai and Vietnamese land is in Isan, only 104 kilometers apart, with Laos in between.
