ENClassifying countries by development is a foolish thing people did in the past. Because if you've traveled to different countries, you'll know each has its own history, which is why they're different. Personally, I've been to America, Japan, or Nepal, but I've never compared them for good or bad. Just use your brain to think about what's unique and interesting about each country, then immerse yourself in that. Thailand is not a bad country at all—I actually feel nostalgic whenever I'm in other countries.

ENBefore, I used to always think I wanted our Thailand to be called a first-world or developed country, but over the past many years, my thoughts have completely changed. I think there's no need for it to be first world, second world, or third world, or any world at all; as long as we live in that country and are truly happy, it's always first world for us. But if we live in a country they say is first world but we're unhappy, it's like we're living in a fourth world or even a fifth world. So I think we don't need to ask questions like this; we should ask if you're satisfied with what you get when you're in Thailand. That answer will tell you exactly which world you're living in.

ENIt's funny every time I hear YouTubers say "Thailand is a third-world country." Seriously, nowadays people all over the world can access the internet, so when anyone mentions Thailand, almost no one thinks Thailand is poor, dirty, inferior, or backward, except for those YouTubers trying to create content. I say this as a Thai who has lived in Europe for decades. As soon as someone here says, "I'm going to Thailand," everyone gets excited, even secretly jealous, because a trip to Thailand is a dream trip for most people. Why? Well, you know—the people, the food, the weather, the diverse tourist attractions. In short, it's amazing!

ENBack in high school, I went to English audio-visual class and saw a book with a picture of an English underground station. I never thought Thailand would catch up this much. And when I graduated as an engineer, I got to be part of building the Blue Line train, the section that emerges from underground to the Depot, building a dam along Klong, walking around the site for inspections every day. It was fun.

ENMany countries try to say Thailand is developed only in Bangkok, but the provinces aren't developed. However, Thai people understand well that people in the provinces don't want development like Bangkok. They just need basic conveniences: easy travel, electricity, roads, public utilities, internet, cleanliness. These things exist in almost every sub-district already.

ENOthers understand, they have personal reasons and explain them, but I'm confused about the German guy working on the plane, the third one, who seemed to really like Thailand, visits often, but when asked if Thailand is third world, he immediately said yes without hesitation. I'm not hung up on the answer—it's about perspective—but I'm stuck on the fact he didn't explain anything, even when Mike asked again, no explanation, just that it's third world and done. I'm just a bit puzzled by him. If he had elaborated more, it would've been great and understandable how he thinks.
