ENBefore I never knew how good Thailand was until I traveled abroad to England, France, Italy, Japan, and others. The freezing cold, miserable weather, unfriendly people in Europe, even Japan, people are robotic, not lively. Being sick abroad is extremely tough and uncomfortable, and food too. Thailand isn't perfect but it's lively, people are warm, it feels like home.
ENI like how kids speak directly. Whatever is bad in Thailand, say it out loud, don't hold back, so we can see the problems and fix them together to make the country better and move toward sustainable development. We welcome criticism to improve.
ENMost Thai people tend to think foreign countries are better and look down on their own country. But anyone who has lived abroad for a long time will definitely miss Thailand. I confirm this from the heart of someone who lived in Australia. Even in big cities like Sydney, it's not as convenient as Thailand. This interview clip shows a foreigner's perspective that Thailand is actually better than abroad in many ways. Thank you for making this clip.
ENMike's Thai has improved sooooo much. First time I saw Mike on TikTok, he opened a new channel backpacking in Thailand as a tourist. Back then he couldn't speak Thai at all. Now he can communicate within just a few years. You're amazing, Mike.
ENThailand is truly the best. Burmese working here say back home they still have to pay police every month for protection. As for America, it's not as glamorous as on TV. The poor are poor, the rich are rich, everyone's struggling. Europe is similar. Visiting is fine, but living permanently? No thanks. Our climate is great, hot yes, but no major disasters except the 2004 tsunami. Thailand has culture, traditions, humility, mutual respect. Kids respect elders—it's passed down, not brainwashing. It's just the right thing to do because one day we'll be old too. The land is fertile—almost anything planted grows.
ENSlightly off-topic, but Mike, if you make content like this—like having the chance to interview foreigners you don't know and randomly survey them, asking questions in different places—I think you'd definitely gain a lot more subscribers. Because many Thai people like to hear opinions or reactions about Thailand and Thai people from the perspective of foreign tourists. Thai people have an open nature, we like to listen to opinions and improve. For me, I like this content, cheer! (I really love that you wore the Spurs shirt. Foreigners might think they're being interviewed by Son Heung-min ^^).
ENDeep down, I think it's about Buddhism, like the first German guy said, that makes Thailand what it is. It's good and touching to get to know Buddhism.
ENBecause most Thais are Buddhist, they're shaped to be compassionate and kind to fellow humans. Thailand has everything developed countries have, but more than half the price.
ENThe highlight of the country is that most people have a foundation of kindness, generosity, and a willingness to help those in need, along with a diverse culture ❤❤❤❤.
ENThailand's weak points are the politics and traffic. Whenever someone asks, I feel embarrassed. But besides the food, another thing that impresses foreigners is access to medicines. For minor symptoms, you can go to a pharmacy without a prescription. You can get basic first aid to hold you over until you can rush to a clinic. It's like some of Thailand's flaws don't seem like serious problems to foreigners. We're just ashamed.
EN13:23 that moment was so clumsy, the mic asked the kid if Thailand was safe, the kid said they saw 40 iguanas (the kid probably meant monitor lizards, oh my god 5555)
ENThe only thing (foreigners) should worry about is that my country isn't cold. Our country has 6 months of hot weather, 3 months of rainy season, and 3 months of cold weather (or less). That's what makes our country a good agricultural country. Even though our country has many good things and can grow on its own, we welcome foreigners from all nations.
ENI often realize that Thailand (my own) is beautiful and worth visiting from foreigners haha, but I like it because most people prefer to go appreciate other cultures. But I wonder one thing: "R U Son?" 😅😅😅
ENThe problem of scamming and price gouging is increasing with the number of tourists. The government must set up measures in each province. Governors need to take this seriously, otherwise it'll decline. One tourist gets scammed, news spreads worldwide.
